Sheree Murphy

Sheree’s career journey is a powerful testament to resilience in the face of the paper ceiling. After leaving college to care for her ailing mother, she entered the workforce as a claims assistant, only to be repeatedly passed over for promotions despite her dedication and performance — because she lacked a degree. Turning to the public sector, Sheree found opportunities for advancement, earning five promotions over 14 years. Still, her dream of becoming a social worker remained out of reach due to degree requirements. When the pandemic disrupted her path, she pivoted, completed a Salesforce Administration program, and transitioned into tech and student counseling roles. Balancing family, finances, and ambition, Sheree credits her strong community for helping her persevere, even as she questions why opportunity remains so difficult to access without a degree.
