Scott Gullick

Scott leads Opportunity@Work's Platform Partnerships team that focuses on building capabilities so that the HR and Job Tech platforms shaping today's hiring decisions recognize the more than 70 million workers who are Skilled Through Alternative Routes (STARs) — people who've built real capabilities through community college, military service, on-the-job training, and life experience rather than a four-year degree.

Scott and his team work closely with platforms to help remove the friction, and unlock the potential, of STARs and their skills in HR Tech so employers have greater access to STARs and STARs have greater access to opportunity. Examples include a partnership with Lightcast to embed skills-first data directly into the tools employers already use to hire, surfacing STARs Relevant roles within widely used labor-market analytics. Or the Indeed partnership to help product teams better understand how to design with, and for, STARs. The ultimate goal is to make STARs skills visible to the systems that decide who gets hired, so opportunity reaches talent wherever it comes from.

Before Opportunity@Work, Scott spent more than a decade at Year Up, where he led corporate partnerships across dozens of cities and helped build the organization's research-and-design lab. He holds an MBA from Boston University's Questrom School of Business and writes and speaks regularly on skills-first hiring. He's based in Sacramento, California.
