Mark Godfrey, Project Manager, Talent Financing
Mark is responsible for developing Talent Financing solutions and partnerships at Opportunity@Work. He believes that an individual’s ability to reach his or her potential should not be constrained by lack of current financial resources. Today too many people are forced to settle on less rewarding career trajectories, not because they can’t achieve more but because they can’t finance their way onto the path. Mark is collaborating with partners who are committed to modernizing the ecosystem of financing options so that everyone can afford a way to get the skills they need to get the job they deserve.
Mark has managed complex business projects across a variety of organizational contexts. Prior to joining Opportunity@Work, Mark spent 4 years as a consultant at Bain & Company where he worked on issues of strategic importance for senior executives at Fortune 500 companies and private equity firms. Such projects included new business acquisition, organizational design, change management, market diligence and competitive analysis. Mark built relationships with clients as a trusted advisor and supervised the work of several junior analysts
He also worked as Head of Operations for Sourcery Technologies, an early stage startup that aimed to establish a technology platform to better connect buyers and suppliers in the wholesale food-service industry. Mark had responsibilities in both operational and strategic aspects of the company. He oversaw business process design, managerial reporting, and human resource development and management. He served on the executive team that set and implemented the company's overall business strategy. Finally, he worked at Haggen, a mid-sized private equity-owned grocery company on the West Coast that had recently undergone a significant acquisition expansion. Mark worked on several special projects with the executive team touching aspects of merchandising, marketing, finance, and store operations.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys exploring all types of delicious food, live music, improving his tennis game and amateur photography skills, running, and traveling whenever possible.
