About the Role
The Marketing & Communications team is responsible for Branding, Communications, and Marketing at Opportunity@Work. We are seeking a rising star with the skill, savvy, and drive to shape Opportunity@Work's communications strategy. As Sr. Communications Manager, you will support the Director of Communications and External Affairs in driving stakeholder collaboration and agency management to plan, implement, and optimize communications programs that deliver key messages to target audiences through paid, owned, and earned media channels. As a key member of this small but growing team, you will also help to educate and demonstrate to stakeholders how communications can elevate the organization's work and advance our mission.
Communications Strategy and Messaging
Collaborate with the Director of Communications and stakeholders to formalize and implement a comprehensive communication plan that achieves awareness, positioning, and acquisition goals.
Manage the creation of company and brand narratives and messaging, to ensure clear, compelling, and consistent internal and external messaging.
Deliver and continually improve a suite of communication tools for both internal (elevator pitch, talking points, FAQs, briefs) and external (one-pagers, infographics, campaigns) audiences.
Lead the planning and implementation of Opportunity@Work and Opportunity Alliance (OA)-related campaigns, including developing the communications plan, themes, materials, and outreach via paid, owned, and earned media channels.
Support the Product Marketing Manager in planning and implementation of Opportunity Marketplace campaign(s) by crafting messaging and securing earned media in alignment with Opportunity@Work and OA narratives.
Develop and execute thought leadership plan, including themes and strategic initiatives, in support of company and brand goals
Manage Communications Associate to implement Opportunity@Work thought leadership writing and speaking opportunities with communications agency including :
Proactive and reactive event selection, including identifying event priorities, outreach/pitching, and vetting/triaging event requests;
Coordinating logistics with relevant staff and prepping speakers with talking points and/or presentations;
Securing and/or coordinating coverage through owned or earned media channels;
Coordinating thought leadership writing for CEO and other leaders with the Executive Communications writer.
Editorial / Content Marketing
Lead development of Opportunity@Work editorial and content marketing strategy, engaging stakeholders, securing resources, and achieving buy-in from key decision makers.
Organize and run the editorial planning process, including ownership of the editorial calendar, managing internal/external resources, and notifying stakeholders when content is released.
Manage creation, quality-assurance, and on-time delivery of blogs, infographics, and other editorial content.
Partner with Digital Communications Manager to distribute editorial and other content (including thought leadership work) through social media, websites, newsletters, press releases, and other distribution channels.
Define media relations strategy and secure high-profile media coverage in print, broadcast, and online media.
Build, maintain, and track media relationships, functioning as the front-line media relations contact for both proactive outreach and reactive media opportunities
Triage and vet media requests, prep spokespeople with talking points, coordinate interviews and follow-up with journalists as needed.
Track and report on media coverage for Opportunity@Work work areas, including delivery of daily clips reports.
Align and integrate earned media opportunities with social media, other digital channels and thought leadership activities.
Manage and develop the Communications Associate.
Manage external resources including the Communications Agency, the Executive Thought Leadership Writer, Graphic Designer and/or others.

Creative: You come up with new ideas and inventive ways to promote an organization so people will pay attention and understand what the organization is all about.
Operational: you are an excellent planner with superior organizational, project management and time management skills. You translate ideas into processes that drive execution, managing multiple tasks across parties and deadlines.
Experienced: you are up-to-date on communication trends and technologies, understanding where and how different audiences turn for information. With at least 6 years of experience, you are able to identify and think like your target audiences.
Entrepreneurial: you are self-motivated and positive, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, are able to balance short-term needs with long-term strategies, and take the initiative to push forward even when there are ambiguity and risk.
