About the Role
Opportunity@Work seeks a Director of People with expertise in HR strategy, operations, recruitment, talent management, learning and development and employee engagement. The Director of People will be a key leader in the organization, responsible for creating a values-driven, people centered culture that delivers a world-class employee experience, operational efficiency and high performance. You will have overall responsibility for talent and HR related matters and will be working closely with the executive team. You will be building and executing on HR and people processes for a young and growing organization. In addition to being a steward of talent and culture across our geographically dispersed company, it is crucial this person bring an inclusion lens to the work as we grow an inclusive and diverse organization. You will report to the Executive Vice President and Co-Founder.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve our talent acquisition strategy
Establish recruiting processes and procedures to attract high-quality and diverse talent across functions (e.g., customer acquisition & success, operations, product & engineering, alliance and movement building)
Define and update roles and skills clearly and in line with company needs and goals
Benchmark and work to ensure that Opportunity@Work has a holistic value proposition to attract top talent
Establish hiring policies and practices to ensure individuals with the skills to do the job are evaluated fairly regardless of their pedigree, and that the most committed, motivated, and qualified employees are hired
Onboard new hires in an effective, consistent, and welcoming way in order to build loyalty and productivity
Create a strategy, roadmap and tactics that embody O@W’s current and future talent needs based on the organization’s strategic direction
Develop and implement a performance management framework and process that defines high performance and how to rate employees against that definition
Ensure regular performance targets are set for each employee and that objective feedback on performance is provided and discussed on a regular basis
Track performance management data in a confidential yet accessible platform
Learning and Development
Develop a learning and development approach that empowers employees with the necessary knowledge, functional and leadership skills to succeed in their roles
Support staff in meeting their professional aspirations through a variety of approaches: training courses, mentoring, coaching, job shadowing, self-directed learning and peer exchange, etc.
Develop, track and analyze metrics for employee engagement and experience
Develop strategies for continuous improvement
Create employee feedback loops to support an open, inclusive and high performance culture
Support the organization in practicing and living out its values both in content (programmatic work) and in process (internal organization building)
Work with the executive team to implement organizational initiatives to improve effectiveness, empower staff and help us achieve our ambitious goals
Ensure the O@W workplace is reflective of the community we seek to serve by considering the occupational, environmental, physical, intellectual, emotional, and mental health of our employees, with an aim of balancing responsibilities to the workplace with personal, family, and community responsibilities
Develop and deliver best-in-class HR services, compensation, benefits and regulatory compliance on employment related matters
Ensure O@W’s people strategy and operations align with our business strategy and operations as we grow
Launch and oversee a HRIS to ensure people data is tracked, accurate, confidential and accessible
Provide HR reporting and analytics to support data-driven compliance and decision making on initiatives, compensation and best practices
Manage HR-related vendors and/or consultants
Business Savvy: You have the drive to build a high performing organization, and are invested in all parts of the business across this organization. You understand the importance of building a team to drive results and your critical role in establishing and building that team. You are comfortable working amidst different organizational development stages, from “blank canvas” to improving established processes and systems.
Leader: You are a natural leader who thrives in a collaborative, high-energy, rapidly changing work environment. You partner well with department leads and teams in planning and operations to deliver an excellent employee experience at all times. You help identify challenges and facilitate solutions. You have an ability to engage and influence colleagues in a way that motivates and empowers action.
Experienced: You have a track record in building and running People / HR Operations function in a growing organization. This includes experience in developing and implementing processes to attract and develop talent and managing HR and people operations inline with business outcomes and organizational values. You have knowledge of HR compliance matters and have continuously improved HR delivery based on changing needs and stages of organizational growth.

Doer: You roll up your sleeves and tackle the day to day operations associated with HR operations including developing job descriptions, professional development policies, professional review processes, benefits and ‘soup to nuts’ recruitment of talent.
