Briana Masterson, Project Manager

Briana Masterson is the Educational Pathways and Learning Lab Manager for Opportunity@Work at New America. She is happiest working with myriad parties aligning interests as a strategic thinker: curating movement as well as speed, direction as well as magnitude, and dynamism as well as fluidity within her and her constituents' work.

Prior to joining Opportunity@Work, Briana was the interactive producer at NAIL Communications, an award-winning creative advertising shop based in Providence, R.I. There, she led the agency-wide effort to seamlessly integrate interactive thinking into NAIL’s creative process and production capabilities. Previously, Briana was agent of momentum at Schwadesign, a design firm specializing in identity building and brand strengthening. At Schwa, she honed her abilities to develop content strategy, brand language, and information architecture for clients, specializing in the non-profit realm.

Briana's professional career began at Big Picture Learning, a progressive educational non-profit with a student-centric approach to schools and learning. During her tenure there, she progressed quickly, eventually becoming their national manager of school and network support. In this capacity, she organized and executed a scaffolded professional development and training strategy for a network of over a hundred schools worldwide.

Born and raised in Pawtucket, R.I., Briana graduated from Brown University. After stints in San Francisco, South Africa, and New York City, she decided that idiosyncratic Rhode Island is the only place that fully warms her quirky heart. Proudly half-Syrian and half-Irish, Briana can be found hiking mountains and collecting questionably good art with her husband, pontificating about Prince’s genius, or pretending to be a capable first-time homeowner.
